If you're just getting started...or you already play and want to do more!
Im a professional guitarist, bass player, and Music Director (i.e. programming, transcribing, arranging, copying, conducting) experienced in studio recording and live performance in a wide range of styles (rock, pop, blues, country, jazz) in nightclubs, festivals, arenas, receptions, restaurants, hotels, U.S. State Department functions, etc. in the U.S., Europe, and Latin America
I adapt to the interests of each student, assess the student's level and guide in development of physical control (technique) and understanding for various styles (Blues, Rock, Country, Jazz, etc.) Everything is based on the style youre interested in, and emphasizes using the ear and advancing the understanding of how and why it all fits togethernot just the same old drilling in finger positions and riffs. Ill write transcriptions for you in tableture (tabs) or standard notation.
I have more than 3000 hours of experience teaching guitar and music theory since 1994. Students have ranged from 7 to 60 years old, and from beginners to working professionals. The focus of lessons varies to include learning songs and styles, Blues / Rock soloing using pentatonic blues box scales, strumming techniques and rhythms, beginning through advanced "physical" techniques (left / right hand, fingerstyles, picking), building a basic chord vocabulary, major and minor scales and modes, deriving chords from scales, understanding and creating chord voicings and inversions, progressions, Jazz improvisation, chord melody, combining chords with walking bass, ear training and learning to copy music from recordings, song writing/composing, arranging, copying (notating).
