42 Technical Artist Development Requirements Bonus
The Technical Artist evaluates, innovates, solves problems and pushes the technical/visual limitations on a given project
Responsibilities:
- Innovate and solve technical issues for tool development used in game production
- R&D with an eye towards visual and technical innovation in dealing with process and pipeline creation
- Documents processes and procedures thoroughly
- Push and/or define hardware and art limitations for the project
- Work efficiently with programming staff while representing the art
- Mentors other artists in this discipline
- Review and recommend software for production
- Meet deadlines with proficiency
- Use commercially available digital software competently
- Develop new techniques and processes to solve production challenges
- Work closely with the tech team to design, debug and evaluate new tools
- Interact and communicate effectively with management on both a project and studio level
- Assist in checking art content against technical guidelines prior to integration in the game
Qualifications/Requirements:
- 3+ years production experience with three or more complete development cycles in a similar role
- Maxscript or equivalent experience
- Working knowledge of MAX and/or other 3D software package Photoshop, Z-brush,
Alienbrain
- Strong technical background
- Thorough understanding of integration of assets into game
- Understanding of scripting, shaders, and other technical issues
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to interact effectively
- Ability to multi-task and to adapt easily to change
- Knowledge of advanced shader techniques
- Experience developing pipelines
- Excellent problem solving capabilities
- Excellent personal relationship skills
- Task driven, self motivated, excellent time management skills
- Excellent knowledge and understanding of cutting edge techniques and tools
- A passion for video games
- Fluency in English - Previous experience in online games
- Preferable (but not necessary to talent, knowledgeable person) BA(BS) Degree
- Leadership experience
- Knowledge of Unreal editor
