The Art Director is responsible for creating the vision, providing clear directions of the art style for the game, he/she maintains and ensures a high level of quality and consistency, and able to correct any deficiencies and troubleshoot problems of the game by himself.
Responsibilities:
- Manage art team
- Decide the art style and concepts for the game with game designer
- Give good direction to artists for the general style, modeling, texture, lighting, etc
- Possess excellent communication, interpersonal, and multi-tasking skills
- Troubleshoot problems and assist artists
- Critique own and others work constructively
- Define art pipelines and find solutions to game requirements
- Work closely with Technical Director and Lead Artists
Qualifications/Requirements:
- At least 5 years experience in Game Industry-Film Experience, 2 years of Art Direction experience, especially realistic art style
- Must possess outstanding art skills, having a strong background in many facets of video game artwork, also must be an expert in modeling and 2D art, especially as it relates to movie and video game development
- Proven abilities in directing art staffs for game style from concept to completion
- Art tool like 3DSMAX and Photoshop experienced
- Experience with next-gen consoles
- Experience developing pipelines
- Excellent problem solving capabilities
- Excellent personal relationship skills
- Experience mentoring and tutoring junior artists
- Task driven, self motivated, excellent time management skills
- Excellent knowledge and understanding of cutting edge techniques and tools
- A passion for video games
- Fluency in English - Preferable (but not necessary to talent, knowledgeable person) BA(BS) Degree of Arts or equivalent from accredited Art Institution
- Ability to sketch and draw
- Fluent knowledge of Premiere, After Effects, Combustion, or similar compositing software
