Scratches on Jewelry, like scratches on cars seem to happen when we aren't looking. Developing a network of little scratches can create a patina of wear that isn't bad.
To remove scratches that are shallow use a silver polishing cloth. They also work on gold and platinum. If that's not cutting it, send it to your favorite Jeweler. They use a high rpm rouge wheel to buff out the scratches.
My clients usually send in their wedding rings yearly for their annual buff and check.
An inexpensive home jewelry cleaning recipe is 2 parts Mr. Clean to 8 parts filtered or distilled water. Soak your jewelry, scrub with an old toothbrush and rinse in hot water and dab dry with a lint free cloth.
This is great for diamonds, sapphires, rubies and tough gems. Don't do it with emeralds, coral, turquoise and opals which need gentler cleaner solutions.
