How To Clean Beaded Silver Bracelets?

How to Clean Beaded Silver Bracelets? Posted 13 May 2011
If you have a beaded silver bracelet you need to clean, it requires the same care as other pieces of silver jewelry, but it might take longer to polish due to its construction. If your bracelet is fashioned of silver plate, or if it has oxidized designs on its surface, avoid certain polishing methods to help preserve its finish.
Instructions:
Cleaning Sterling Silver or Silver Overlay
1. Wipe your beaded silver bracelet with a soft sterling silver polishing cloth to remove dust or makeup.
2. Apply sterling silver polishing paste to the beads with a soft child's toothbrush. Rub the polish gently onto the beads with a lengthwise motion. Avoid using a circular motion when rubbing, as it may result in noticeable light scratches.
3. Wipe the excess polish from the beads with a soft polishing cloth, and rinse with warm water to remove all traces of polish.
4. Buff dry with a clean, soft polishing cloth, and store the bracelet separately in an airtight plastic bag to reduce the occurrence of scratches and tarnishing.
Cleaning Silver Plate
1. Fill a small dish with warm water and add a couple of drops of mild, liquid soap. Agitate with your fingers to mix the soap into the water.
2. Dip a soft cloth into the soap and water solution, and wipe the beaded bracelet clean.
3. Dry with a soft cloth, and place in an separate pouch or bag for storage to avoid scratches to its finish.
