Area is great. Universities, restaurants, cafes, book stores, bars, movie theatres, 1mn from Luxembourg garden (for joggers), 1 mn from Vavin or Notre Dame des Champs metro stations that will take you all around town (20 mn from Pigalle by metro, 15 mn to Latin Quarter). Plenty of bus lines as well. At the beginnin of the century Montparnasse was the artistic quarter where all the famous painters and writers hung out and lived. 5 mn by foot to St Germain.
