I am looking for an apartment in central Budapest for the end of the month of July 2007, approximately between July 22 and August 1.
My dates are flexible, but I will have to be in Budapest at least between July 22 and July 27 included, to attend a conference.
I look for a clean, convenient place, central and well-connected to public transports.
I would exchange my attic studio in le Marais (very central neighborhood, close to the banks of the river).
I could also sublet it if you were interested in renting it instead of exchanging your own apartment. Please contact me for details.
Situation:
My attic apartment is under the rooftop of a XVIIth century building in le Marais (4th arrondissement - the historical center). It is situated in a very quiet street, within 5 minutes' walk of the loveliest banks of the Seine, the old aristocratic Place des Vosges, and the animated bars of La Bastille.
Apartment:
A 30 m2 studio. Very calm and sunny, full of books (a large number of which are novels in English!), situated on the fifth and last floor of a typical old Marais walk-up building, in a quiet cobbled courtyard. It has a charming view on rooftops (see picture below). It's an attic apartment, very clean, snug and cosy, zen-decorated, and it should be perfect for a single person or a couple looking for a place both convenient and romantic. The apartment consists in:
- One bedroom (one double bed)
- A separate kitchen
- A separate shower-room
The shower is in an independant room, distinct from the apartment but on the same landing (next door). There is only one neighbor on this floor, and the bathroom is reserved to your exclusive use. This only means that you will get two separate keys, one for the flat and one for the shower-room. However, there is also a smaller bathroom (containing the toilets and a washbasin) in the apartment itself.
The bedroom, kitchen and shower room are fully equipped (hotplates, small fridge, blender, towels, linen etc.).
- A wireless/Ethernet/USB high-speed Internet connection is provided (but you will have to bring your own computer).
- You are welcome to use the phone freely to call many foreign countries (including the USA and Canada, regular phone lines and cells).
- There is a pair of speakers which you can connect to a laptop, and lots of CDs...
Neighborhood:
My street is located in the heart of the oldest area of the city. Le Marais is one of the pleasantest places to discover on foot, with its charming quaint streets and lots of beautiful 17th century stone mansions surrounded by small gardens.
Le Marais is also one of the trendiest parts of Paris, with fashionable boutiques, restaurants and bars, an impressive concentration of art galleries and museums (Picasso Museum, Muse Victor Hugo, Maison Europenne de la Photographie, Centre Pompidou...). It's both very young and animated, and extremely lovely and cosy.
The centralness of this location makes it extremely convenient: many monuments and museums are within 3 to 10 minutes' walk (Picasso Museum, Beaubourg, Place des Vosges, Ile Saint-Louis, Tour Saint-Jacques...).
Lots of public transports: 4 subway stations are vey close by (subway lines n1, 8, 5 at Bastille, n1 at Saint-Paul, n7 at Sully-Morland and Pont-Marie), as well as numerous bus lines.
Many restaurants and facilities around.
